We recently bought our first house with Michael this past July 2010. It was an eye opening experience given the current real estate market. We started searching in January and soon put in our first bid not shortly after. We knew what we wanted in a home; since we had a child on the way and we were excited to begin our new family in our first home.
Michael was a huge asset with helping us understand the construction, upgrades (or lack thereof), locations, benefits and pitfalls of homes with his detailed background in home construction. Unfortunately, we did not get accepted on our first offer or many more thereafter. We looked at so many houses over that time span that I cannot even count them. This wasn’t due to a lack of effort on Michael’s part by any means. We were trying to get FHA financing and we just kept getting outbid by investors or the banks were accepting other offers with higher down payments. He was always upbeat and positive and did his best to help us not get discouraged. We went out almost every week and looked at houses in all parts of town. He was familiar with all the areas and was great at educating us on the pros and cons of certain areas, whether it is retail, travel, crime, future appreciation, etc… He was a real trooper and spent more time with us then I am sure most agents have spent with several clients combined. We finally got one of our offers accepted in the Mountains Edge area and we couldn’t be happier with our new house. Good things come to those that wait I suppose! The purchase process was a breeze and Michael was very knowledgeable in the negotiation process to make sure we got what we wanted and didn’t get raked over the coals at the same time. On top of that, when the banks were quoting us 60 days or so to close, Michael was able to point us in the direction of a lender that was able to close within 30 days. Needless to say, we had a very positive experience with Mr. Colandone and we will be using him for any future purchases and listings, referring him to any friends and family that plan on buying in the area!
